Library Giving Day 2025

Join the foundations of Pierce County Library, Puyallup Public Library, and Tacoma Public Library and support your local libraries’ work in advancing literacy. Join library lovers in your area in making a donation between now and April 30. Thank you for your generous gift!

Your Gift Makes a BIG Difference!

Expand Access to Resources:
Your donation helps provide access to books, technology, resources, and tools that empower individuals and create stronger communities. From free public computers, internet, and printing, to books, online resources, podcast kits, and seed libraries, your public libraries offer resources that expand opportunities and create connections.

Inspire Lifelong Learning:
Libraries ignite curiosity in children, sustain engagement for adults, and offer enriching opportunities for seniors. With your support, we can fund literacy programs, workshops, and cultural events that inspire learning at every stage of life.

Bridge the Digital Divide:
In today’s digital age, access to technology is critical. Your contribution equips libraries with modern computers, digital tools, and training programs to help people develop the skills they need to thrive.

Support Community Connection:
Libraries are hubs of culture and community, hosting everything from book clubs to career development seminars. Your gift helps create welcoming spaces where neighbors come together to share ideas, stories, and dreams.

Literacy is a Big Dill Pickleball Tournament

April is Literacy Awareness Month! Rally in support of lifelong learning by registering for the first ever Literacy is a Big Dill Pickleball Tournament. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or new to the game, join the fun-filled weekend featuring both competitive and recreational brackets for players of all skill levels to participate.

This unique tournament brings community together for two days of fun, exercise, and philanthropy. Just as athletics promote physical and mental well-being, literacy and library programs foster cognitive development, curiosity, and discovery.

Tacoma Public Library Foundation believes libraries are vital to building strong, compassionate, and prepared communities, and that learning is a human right. Through outreach and philanthropy, the Foundation strengthens Tacoma Public Library’s vision to be a radically welcoming, trusted community hub where all people can find joy, compassion, and inspiration.

FAQ

  • Many pickleball players know their skill rating, and should use that as a guide. If a player does not know (either as an individual or team), they should sign up for the ‘3.4 and below’ division. That division is considered recreational, while the others are increasingly competitive (based on skill rating).

  • Each game will be played to 11, with the winners required to win by at least 2 points. Staff will be on site for assistance, but we kindly ask players to abide by the honor system.

  • The schedule is below. Each division will play on the day listed, and begin at the initial time. Information on your first match will be provided the day before the tournament. For your first game, please plan on being on site at least half an hour early.
